My olympus 1060 camera says that the card cover is open when it is shut. Can anyone help me ?

My olympus 1060 camera will turn on but when you turn it on it comes up saying card cover open and i have tried taking the memory card and battery out and re-entering them but nothing seems to work.

There's not much that you can do by yourself. A bit of cleaning to make sure the contacts and switches are functioning is about it.

Open the card cover, remove the card and the battery, and with a cotton-bud / q-tip give everything a clean.
