motorcycle starter solenoid test?

How do you test a starter solenoid? What does it mean to "jump out" the solenoid? Have a honda chopper with a rewired basic wiring. Did turn over serveral times then just stopped. Good Battery, good coil, good fuse, new starter, new ing switch.

The 2 nuts that hold the cables from the battery to the starter short across them that should turn the engine over
If when you press the regular starter button if it clicks but does not turn the engine that test should work if it is the solenoid
