replacing old honeywell round thermostat, with programmable?

I am trying to replace old honeywell thermostat (round) with a Honeywell RLV4300 programmble thermostat. The problem i am having is that when i hook up the new thermostat it doesn't turn on. It says that the wires are not polarized so i can't hook them

RLV4300 IS A 240V electric baseboard thermostat. That would mean you have electric heat. If you had a 24V thermostat you need to replace it with a compatible unit, you don't have electric baseboard heat, maybe hot air or water.
