How to find out the amperage of an alternator diode?

Alternator diodes are available in 25, 35,50 amps and 400-600 volts ratings. since lot of spurious makes are available with lower ratings. What will be the right way to check the amperage and other parameters
how to test the values like voltage
Read the reference on the diode and check the datasheet.
