Discovered my video card has been underpowered for a year now. Would this have caused damage?
Bought a factory assembled PC which included the ATI 5970. A year later Ive been having major video problems. So i call and after extensive investigation they have me open it up and they wired the card wrong resulting in it being underpowered all this
Very, very, unlikely to have caused any damage - it must have been a pretty marginal effect as it worked initially
Most electronic designs are very tolerant of under-voltage or under-powering, even very inductive circuits should be ok
