Alternator upgrade?? about to install a 1600 rms hifonics into car..?

I have 1997 toyota rav4 and in the process of installing a 1600 rms hifconics amp. Will my stock alternator die?? how many amps do I need if i upgrade? Im a newbie when it comes to electrical system in the car. PLEASE HELP...thanks
