Do I need a new starter or solenoid switch?
I was able to tap the starter & the car would start. It's not working anymore. How do I know if it's just the solenoid switch or if I need to get a new starter or both? The battery is fine, I have radio lights etc. so I know it's not the alternator.
From your description, it sounds more like the starter. It is not a difficult job to do with simple wrenches:
1. disconnect the battery - ground wire first.
2. disconnect the electrical connections to the starter
3. undo the bolts
