Is there a cheap alternative air filter oil to use for K&N air filters?

Wanted to know if anyone knows of a cheap alternative oil to use on my K&N air filter?

The K&N recharger kit that comes with the cleaner AND oil only costs $10 at most parts stores. And it's good for at least three cleanings.
There's really no reason to potentially destroy your $50 filter for lack of a $10 kit.
