Why would an alternator go bad as soon as it gets out into a vehicle?

I have a 95 ford ranger V6 4.0. Bought a reman alternator and installed it. Had no voltage off the hot. Had the alternator tested and it failed and was replaced with one that passed. Installed the new one and and had nothing again.
you have a short circuit in your charging system/wiring ...check all related wiring before installing another unit.
