12v battery on a gas scooter, do i need electricity hooked up to switch for solenoid?
I have a 12v battery on a gas scooter (33cc) and i am thinking about getting a solenoid for my electric start for only 10 bucks instead of a new pull start (mine broke) for $35 U.S.. now i’ve heard trucks have to have electricity ( a small amount hooked up to the switch you press to make it send the 12v to the electric start) but do i need electricity hooked up to the switch for the scooter? and does it have to come from the battery or scooter? or can i just rig it with a 9v energizer attached? if it needs to come from the battery, please let me know how i can transform 12v to however many i need to make it work… please please help and thank you thank you thank you!!! first off you are going to have to use an electric starter motor to turn the engine over.it will have to have a hot or positive cable run to it also must have negative or ground connection then a wire must be run to your a magnetic solenoid switch to close contacts when solenoid is energized to close contacts and energize starter motor when contacts are deenergized solenoid switch will deenergize and switch will remain open until next time circuit switch is closed 12 volts will match all components and they will only perform right with it have assumed you have 12 volt charging and ignition system
what, does that small motor have a starter, ? if it has a starter then you should a solinoid, and it would be powered from the battery there is not so much amps going through the thing , you could use a a switch similaar to the one here in the link
