What are starter paint brushes on neopets used for?

Like the ones you get in your newbie pack (starter green, blue paint brush) What can you use them for?
like if you made your neopet red when you first made it and then you want to change its color to blue or whatever color you got in your newbie pack then you can just use that.
its not a spectacular paint brush thats why its called a starter paintbrush
