Why does the battery light stay on when engine is off and key removed from the ignition?
It's a Peugeot 306 1996 1.9 diesel. When the engine is started the light goes brighter then goes off and the alternator is charging the battery. When the engine is stopped and the key taken out of the ignition the battery light comes on and stays on and
You have a short to ground, somewhere in the charging system.. look for a bare wire rubbing against something.....or you have a light such as underhood, glovebox, or trunk, or even possibly taillight that is stuck "on"
